I just got in to work -- I'm looking forward
to my commute nowdays...
2. How tight (or lose) should it be? And how
do you "eyeball" it? (what do you align with
what, and how do you tell?)
I measured it with the brass torsion tool from
the toolkit, right in the center. It still
squeaked so I loosened it a bit, but so it was
still within the range. Then I took a few extra
turns on the right-side adjuster to bias the
rear pulley to the right a hair. All this
helped but didn't make it totally go away.
3) Gasket for what? The gasket between the
instrument cluster and the gas tank looks OK --
it's all there, placed correctly and not
oxidized that I can see. Do I have to pull
the tank to tighten a fastener?
Is there another gasket around something else?
Also, why would I have to make one -- can't
I buy one from my local dealer?
I'm going to wind up with a shop manual, but
I just started. Actually the user manual was
pretty good except for the part where you
just "lift the rear of the gas tank" and
it's supposed to come right off. Fat chance.
I read that you should drain it and pull the
petcock or risk scratching the frame.
Thanks
Mike
